Vedic scriptures talk about performing Griha Pravesh ceremony, It is the set of Poojas and rituals that are performed before one starts to live in a new house.
Griha Pravesh, is known as Vaastu Puja it is done to drive away the ill-effects, doshas and increases the flow of positive energy (Prana) in the house. The date for performing Griha Pravesh puja can be fixed as per auspicious Griha Pravesh Muhurth or any Good Muhurth date based on Rashi, Nakshatra of the house owners.
